Shri Shahid Siddiqui is a member of Rajya Sabha from Ghazipur (UP).

The National General Secretary of the Samajwadi Party since 2001, Shri Siddiqui's experiences and accomplishments are diverse. He was a lecturer of Political Science at Delhi University; Vice-Chairman of the National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language; Chairman of the Indian National Congress (Minority Cell); Member of the National Integration Council; and Member of the Governing Body of MLC University in Bhopal.

Shri Siddiqui completed his masters in Political Science from Delhi University.

He is the recipient of several prestigious awards---"Organisation of Understanding and Fraternity Award" for promotion of Secularism, the "Delhi Urdu Academy Award" for excellence in Urdu journalism, the "Mauland Mohd. Ali Johar Award" for national integration, and the "Rajiv Gandhi Award" for excellence in Secularism.

He is the Chief Editor, Nai Dunya (Urdu weekly), Nai Zameen (Hindi weekly), and Awam (Urdu daily). He regularly writes on national integration, minority issues, and secularism in English and Hindi newspapers.

A widely traveled person, he has participated in many conferences in West Asian, CIS, South-East Asian and European countries in the last 25 years.
